In revising the façade design of the “Arg Farmanieh” project, considering that construction has progressed up to the fifth floor and in compliance with the regulations approved by the municipality, we faced numerous constraints that required deeper reflection and reconsideration.

After a comprehensive review of the plans and careful consideration of the project’s construction progress, we decided to distinguish the outer envelope from the inner layer, which had been formed due to the presence of balconies and neighboring property setbacks. To achieve this, we introduced a framing strategy, incorporated flower boxes, and modified the dimensions of the balconies (taking into account the slabs already executed up to the fifth floor). Through these interventions, we arrived at the intended concept: a carved volume with distinct, visible inner layers.

Along this process, we also relocated several windows, removed some where possible, and adjusted the dimensions of others in order to enhance the visual quality of the façade.

The materials proposed for the façade are microcement and granite stone. Microcement was selected for its high durability, resistance to rain and weather conditions without changes in quality or appearance, and its ability to create a seamless, continuous surface across the façade. Granite, as a durable and long-lasting material resistant to climatic changes, complements microcement. The color contrast between these two materials reinforces the primary design concept, which emphasizes the contrast between the outer and inner layers of the building envelope.
